چکیده

Biomethane is a renewable product that can directly substitute its fossil counterpart, although synthesis from residual biomasses has some hurdles. Because of the complex nature both and microbial consortia involved, innovative approaches such as mathematical modeling be deployed to support possible improvements. The goal this study two-fold, we aimed modify part Anaerobic Digestion Model No. 1 (ADM1), describing biomethane production activated sludge, matching with actual nature, use model for identifying relevant parameters improve production. Firstly, thermodynamic analysis was performed, highlighting direct route glucose most favorable. Then, by using MATLAB® Simulink Toolbox, discovered fails predict microbiological behavior system. structure ADM1 then modified adding substrate consumption yields in equations growth, better reflect consortium behavior. updated tested modifying several parameters: coefficient decomposition identified increase Approaching models point view lead further improvement themselves. Furthermore, work represents additional evidence importance informatics tools, bioprocess simulations foster role bioeconomy.

Modeling anaerobic digestion of microalgae using ADM1.

The coupling between a microalgal pond and an anaerobic digester is a promising alternative for sustainable energy production by transforming carbon dioxide into methane using solar energy. In this paper, we demonstrate the ability of the original ADM1 model and a modified version (based on Contois kinetics for the hydrolysis steps) to represent microalgae anaerobic digestion. Simulations were ...

Application of Anaerobic Digestion Model 1 (ADM1) for Prediction of Biogas Production

Anaerobic Digestion Model 1 (ADM1), developed by the International Water Association (IWA) in 2002 is the first and most advanced model applicable for predicting biogas pro-duction and the dynamic processes involved. The model includes parameters after the dis-integration to define substrates in terms of carbohydrates (XCh), proteins (XPr), lipids (XLi) and inert (XI) fractions. Chemical Weende...

Kinetic modelling of anaerobic digestion with new fractionation using simple model and ADM1

This paper investigates the development of a simple model for the optimization of codigestion not only using the Biochemical Methane Potential (BMP) but also using the degradation kinetics. This study concerns an experimental work on the implementation and the operation of continuous reactors fed with different fruits and vegetables wastes at different organic loading rates. A simple model was ...

Improving Biomethane Production and Mass Bioconversion of Corn Stover Anaerobic Digestion by Adding NaOH Pretreatment and Trace Elements

This research applied sodium hydroxide (NaOH) pretreatment and trace elements to improve biomethane production when using corn stover for anaerobic digestion. Full-factor experimental tests identified the best combination of trace elements with the NaOH pretreatment, indicating that the best combination was with 1.0, 0.4, and 0.4 mg·L(-1)·d(-1) of elements Fe, Co, and Ni, respectively. The cumu...
